 Potluck for lunch

Emily Craner
     Staff reporter

Ever go into a lunch period, knowing it’ll be the same ol’, same ol’—the pizza, the pizza pockets…the pizza sticks? Fries. It can get old, which is why a group of about 7 boys decided to defy the lunch odds, and begin having potlucks.
“We were getting sick of our everyday lunches and wanted real food that tastes good,” junior Drake Hanson said, past provider of items such as pie, Hawaiian Punch and beans.
     So
when did this all start?
“About five weeks ago,” senior Michael Brewer said.
Normally people just bring random food to the potlucks, but they keep things exciting by sometimes assigning themes.
According to Hanson, “We designate Mexican day, or like pasta day, and designate people to bring stuff.”
So far, the favorite theme seems to have been Mexican day.
"Everybody ended up bringing a lot of food,” senior Chase Lowther said.
When it comes to the administration, they don’t seem to mind.
“Barlow wants us to clean up our mess, that’s it,” Lowther said.
These potlucks are a fun way to change up the last days dragging by before summer, and you might just be able to join in.
“We have a lot of food,” Hanson said, “But if you bring stuff, you have priorities.”
What’s the best part about these potlucks?
“It keeps the day exciting,” Brewer said. “It spices up our lives.”
